Hardwood Log Optimization Facility
The Huber Hardwood Optimization Facility, opened in 1997, offering neighboring mills the option of a steady, centralized supply of hardwood sawlogs. HHOF maintains a direct connection to Maine's extensive off-highway road system, with access to over 3 million acres of timberland. In addition, full access to the Maine Montreal and Atlantic railroad is provided as an additional transportation alternative. HHOF's entrance is on Route 157 in Millinocket, Maine just 8 miles from I-95. The first facility of its kind, HHOF extracts the maximum value out of hardwood trees through a computerized scanning process, matching the best cut of log with the optimal end market for that log. Our expert graders then further inspect each log to ensure that its maximum value is achieved. In addition to processing wood for their own land base, the crew at HHOF also provides processing services for other landowners, along with a variety of other services.
